Chargers place Oben on IR, Pippens and Haddad signed

The Chargers made several roster moves today after placing tackle Roman Oben on the “Reserve-Injured” list. Defensive back Jerrell Pippens and wide receiver Drew Haddad signed with the team. Strong safety Scott McGarrahan was waived.

Pippens signed with San Diego in 2004 as an undrafted free agent, he beat the odds and made the practice squad. He was eventually activated and played in two games, but was waived on December 20, 2004. One day later, the Chicago Bears signed him. The Bears waived Pippens on September 4, 2005. Pippens will wear #28.

You might remember Pippens from last years Kansas City game when kick returner Dante Hall appeared heading toward the end zone, when Kassim Osgood was closing fast, Hall lost the ball while trying to switch it from one hand to the other. Pippens recovered for the Chargers. The Bolts went on to win at Arrowhead Stadium 34-31.

Wide receiver Drew Haddad drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2000, Played for the Colts in 2000, ‘01, ‘02 and most of ‘03. Haddad had a 94-yard punt return for a touchdown for the Colts against Seattle in 2001. Haddad spent time with Frankfurt Galaxy in NFL Europe. Drew Haddad will wear #16.
