Son of Colts coach Dungy dead
The death of a child is always a terrible thing.
I can only imagine the pain Colts head coach Tony Dungy and his family are experiencing when they received news that his son James Dungy, was found dead in a Tampa-area apartment, early Thursday morning.
It has been reported Dungy has left the Colts and is in Tampa. The Colts are at Seattle on Saturday, and team president Bill Polian said that assistant head coach Jim Caldwell has taken over for Dungy.
Chargers head coach Marty Schottenheimer issued the following statement:
“My family and I are feeling an unrecognizable sense of loss at the untimely death of Jamie Dungy. Pat and I pray for God’s comfort and reassurance for Tony, Lauren and their family. The Dungy’s faith and relationship with God will sustain them during this extremely difficult time, and our thoughts and prayers are with them.”
The Colts’ Dungy reported to Schottenheimer in Kansas City from 1989-91 as the Chiefs’ defensive backs coach. The two have remained good friend to this day.

I don't think anyone unless they are parents can understand what Dungy is going through right now. I mean, I live not too far from the USF campus, where James went to school and lived near the campus. Tony should take as much time as possible especially because of the timing of this tragedy.

I am the furthest thing frim a Dungy fan, but I want to extend my deepest sympathies to he and his family. This time of year has to make it even harder, if that's even possible.

I want to express my deepest sympathies to Mr. and Mrs. Dungy and family. I am not a Colt's fan, however I am a mother of two young sons and can't imagine life without them. I will take Mr. Dungy's advice that was published in an article to not take your children for granted and to kiss and hug my children every chance I get. My heart and prayers will be with this family for a long, long, time.
