I think that the chargers will make the playoffs with that schedule. The chargers might go to 12-4 or 11-5.

I think we can win all of these games, although, we could have won all of our games this year. I also think that we are going to make the playoffs on this schedule, and we'll probably go 14-2 or 13-3.
Mike (January 2, 2006 04:03 PM)
Much better schedule next year. Three "eastern" road trips. Depends when we play Buffalo. I can see 12-4. Get Brees rehab done and O-line help and away we go.
Bob (January 2, 2006 04:08 PM)
i like the pittsburgh and cincinatti games to be monday nite football
charlie bolt (January 2, 2006 04:16 PM)
If the O-line holds up and the secondary improves down the field I'd look at us going 13-3 or 14-2. Go bolts!!!
Pete Marr (January 2, 2006 04:30 PM)
Chargers should go 13-3 or 14-2 next year. They had high points this year that shows me Brees, Gates, Tomlinson, Parker, Mc Cardell, and I think Vincent Jackson will make a hell of a run for the SB. The Chargers should be one of the premire teams in the NFL and should be AFC WEST champions.
Jorge I Garcia (January 2, 2006 04:30 PM)
I'm likin this schedule a lot. Especially since were the only ones in the AFC West with spending money next year
Mason From Milwaukee (January 2, 2006 04:35 PM)
this schedule appears to be alot easier than last year. only one game to the northeast. thats helpful. as long as brees comes back healthy, we will have a good chance to make the super bowl
tim (January 2, 2006 04:56 PM)
i think we will go 5-3 at home. and maybe 5-3 on the road. im not sure about 12-4, 11-5 would be nice.
mario alfonso (January 2, 2006 05:11 PM)
Schedule seems fair enough to reserve a playoff spot in 06, but lets hope Marty changes his conservative coaching ways. In the last two years he has shown more willingness to open up the playbook, but he has a history of playing games too close that prove to be costly. Having a reasonably high powered offense and a top-ranked run defense, it's no mystery where the adjustsments are needed on defense. Lets develope a more consistant secondary!
GO CHARGERS!
Big Chile (January 2, 2006 05:25 PM)
I think next years schedule looks great for the chargers.an offensive linemen, a defensive lineman, and a defensive back and we will be the team that everyone will be chasing next year. This team has a very bright future and I am very proud of my San Diego Chargers
Dominic De Crescente (January 2, 2006 05:36 PM)
i think chargers will surprise everyone next year and be the nfl's best comeback team. and will go 13-3 and be west champs and get to the third round of the playoffs. and i think 7 chargers will go to hawaii, drew brees, ladanian tomlinson, lorenzo neil, atonio gates, donnie edwards, jamall williams, shawne merriman!!!! chargers will be an outstanding team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lance (January 2, 2006 05:39 PM)
I think that if the Bolts can minimize the late-game mistakes that kept them from the playoffs this year, there's a very good possiblity of a 12-4/13-3/14-2 season and AFC West Title with that schedule.
L.T. For President!
Scott from Minneapolis (January 2, 2006 05:45 PM)
chargers will be the best afc team next year and will go 13-3
lance (January 2, 2006 05:47 PM)
chargers are going to the pllayoffs next year
andrew (January 2, 2006 05:55 PM)
I say we go 15-1 like the stealers did two years ago
Reese (January 2, 2006 05:56 PM)
On paper and based on this years play, the chargers can do very well next year. However, the NFL is the NFL and several teams that were good this year will be bad next year and vise a versa. The Chargers will likely finish 10-6 or 11-5 next year. They must sure up the offensive line and replace the safeties we have because all of them could not start on another squad. It is not the corner backs that are bad.... they just have bad help behind them.
Justin Brennan (January 2, 2006 06:04 PM)
i see us finishing 14-2....we might lose to cincinnati and denver...the seahawks havent proved they are that good yet...they beat a couple good teams, but no one impressive....DREW BREES FOR PRESIDENT...
brandon from indianapolis, in (January 2, 2006 06:11 PM)
Think big, 19-0 next year.
Nomad (January 2, 2006 06:27 PM)
If Brees is healthy, we have a chance to be undefeated and 1972 Dolphins season is history. Chargers game plan for next year is score first and score often. They need to score at least 21 points in the first half. I see the Chargers blowing out every opponent on their way to the Super Bowl. No excuses Chargers!! Win all the games. They need to think of revenge against Denver, Pittsburgh and KC. No close games and no heartbreakers. Get well Brees!! In addition, there should be no holdouts by Gates. Only concern is to get Brees healthy. And Merriman should be able to play a full season.
Joel (January 2, 2006 06:34 PM)
With a schedule like that we should easily go anywhere between 12-4 to 14-2. Depending on if the coaches are smart enough to improve the secondary, and use LT more.
Ben Diller (January 2, 2006 06:39 PM)
While the schedule keeps us closer to home, I remain concerned about offensive play calling and the secondary. The Bolts are on paper a SB team. Coaching and a couple of DBs give me reservations about how far we can go.
Herr Bolt (January 2, 2006 06:47 PM)
Chargers will make the playoffs next year definately with this schedule 14-2 is my prediction
Charger Girl (January 2, 2006 06:57 PM)
Next years shedule seems a lil more fair than the previouse year. But What happens now with brees and rivers. I think rivers performance was o.k. WHO knows who will lead us into 2006
Germain (January 2, 2006 07:05 PM)
2006 should be a very exciting year for the Bolts. 10-6 would seem to be very realistic, based on their schedule compared to this year. We played the toughest schedule in the league this year, so it figured to only be easier next year. The contract status of Drew Brees will definitely be a hot topic in the offseason. Overall, things are looking good for the Boys from San Diego.....now if we can just learn how to tackle on special teams.....
Dan B. (January 2, 2006 07:06 PM)
19-0?! Whohoah!
That's a bit optimistic, but you never know! (hee-hee)
There is no doubt though, that we should make the play-offs next year... and I don't think we'll be illuminated on the first round either.
I like the way the schedule looks. This season, out of the 13 teams which we played, 9 had a winning record.
Next year only 5 have a winning record, then add a little spirit of COMEBACK and it's lookin goooood for the Bolts!
Mr. Tagliabu, show some mercy because of the '05 schedule and on Drew's injury, and have us play Buffalo in September. Thank you.
Charger management, please find a better Corner who will actually GO for an interception. Strengthen the O' line, discipline Special Teams, believe in Drew and Marty for another year and and sign Junior for one more year with incentives!!!
SHOW ME YOUR LIGHTNING BOLTS!!!
Ben Chavez (January 2, 2006 07:34 PM)
With a QB (Rivrs) who can pass down field with something on it. they should be able to go 14-2,13-3. At the end of this year you can tell that the teams picked up that
Brees couldn't make the long pass unless the o/l game him time. All the defenses kept the preasure on the line and 10 yards deep because Bress doesn't have the arm strengh. And now with his bad arm, lets save the money, use Rivers, and spend the money on some o/line men, a good receiver with breakaway speed and some good safties. GET RID OF BREES. How many games did he come from behind to when?? I think 1 against Washington, who we should of never been behing in the first place
larryboy (January 2, 2006 07:46 PM)
Ok Denver will win the afc west again next year but we will go 11-5 10-6 and get wildcard and the cheifs will miss again and the raiders are bad so they will get last again.
Joker (January 2, 2006 08:01 PM)
The chargers need to stop their jeckle and Hyde act and get it done every week.
CT Charger (January 2, 2006 08:04 PM)
Honestly, when we get ed reed and t.o. we going to be the team to beat...sorry rival football fans....19-0 like he said above me think big..but i dont think i know....
bobby (January 2, 2006 08:13 PM)
As Shannon Sharpe said. Chargers are the best team not to make the playoffs this year. The second toughess schedule, nonetheless, no excuses. Super Bowl champions find a way to win no matter what. Chargers should be a favorite to win it all next year if they address their needs right. If not they should still make the playoffs.
Ainesto (January 2, 2006 08:19 PM)
I'm also thinking big, 19-0 for next year GO BOLTS!!!!!!!
Jesus From San Diego (January 2, 2006 08:32 PM)
I think that the Chargers have the potential to make the Playoffs next year. I mean San Diego beat the Patriots in thrie own house then went and beat the undeafeted Colts. The O-linemen have to protect L.T., and Drew Brees. Then the secondary has to start making plays. If we can do that, we will be able to win the SUper Bowl and shut the Raiders Fans mouth and send 10 players to the Pro Bowl. I saw mthe game wheir L.T. only had seven yards and no touch. That was because the the o-linemen did not protect. I saw Drew get hit a couple of times which caused him to fumble. Thats cause the O-linemen did not protect. Isaw Chris Chambers catch two touchdown passes that won it for Miami. That is because the Secondary let him free. Fix those problems, then we'll have ESPN talking bout the Mighty Bolts Just as they Talk about The USC Trojans.
Gerren Davis (January 2, 2006 08:51 PM)
4-2 in the division, 8-4 in conference, 11-5 overall, #4 seed, AFC West champions. Denver cannot compete with their first-place schedule. Special teams need to improve significantly. If Buffalo wasn't so inept on offense they would have taken better advantage of the field position the Chargers consistently gave up. Secondary help should be nice, shore up the O-line and get the skill players healthy. Good luck fellas.
Bob Smith (January 2, 2006 08:52 PM)
I really believe they can go 12-4 as well, yet they need to improve the O-Line, Pass coverage and special teams kick-offs (opposing teams can't continue to start on the 35-40 yard line). In addition as a recent e-mail stated Marty must stop being so conservative, he has opened up more, yet still gets to conservative when a lead is at hand!
Scooter (January 2, 2006 08:59 PM)
19-0 is would be nice but I would be just as happy with a 5-0 start so that the rest of the season won't feel like catch-up. The bolts play in far too rough a division (minus the raiders) to be able to come back, as this year proved. The key is to bring a O-line to each game that will consistantly give LT a chance to break tackles in front of the line of scrimmage rather than behind it. GO BOLTS!!!!
Concertattire (January 2, 2006 09:02 PM)
This off season and who the Bolts get to help holds all the answers. Good off season GREAT 06'. Not so great an off season and we can expect the same old stuff.
George Thompson (January 2, 2006 09:32 PM)
What an easy schedule for 2006!!!! If BREES is healthy for 2006 they can easily go 12-4 or 13-3, and make a run for the SUPER BOWL. But a big test will be CINCINNATI, and PITTSBURGH. The only real teams they face outside thier division and must beat for possible playoff implications. Even with PHILLIP RIVERS running the show if BREES isn't quite 100% healthy, They should easily win 10 games. They must improve the O-Line for protection, and add some help in the secondary!!!!!
CHARGERS SUPERHERO (January 2, 2006 10:02 PM)
I think the chargers have a good chance to attract the hype of the unbeaten team, just like the colts did this year. The only problem is they need to be consistent. Especially, against Denver & KC. They seem to play really loose against these teams at there respected homes. We all know that KC is one of the toughest teams to be beat at home, 'cause there fans can distrupt our team. Denver just plays hard at home. At the same time, before the season started experts had already predicted that the Patriots/ Indianapolis would be a lost for sure. What happened? Our offense is good, but not great. That can be fixed this year with the upcoming draft. Also with free agency. We need to give Drew time to look down the field. As we did '04. Our O-line needs to get healthier and raise some awareness. Our defense is not that bad. I just feel that our DB's need to review the rules. I don't know how many times we helped other teams on 3rd down with dumb calls. Especially Quentin Jammer. We all know he's a physical player but after 5 yards? Maybe he needs to be converted into a Safety. We haven't had a Safety that other teams thought twice about going down field since Rodney Harrison!
Juan (January 2, 2006 10:24 PM)
Chargers will collapse. Go 8-8 out of the playoffs. The stands will be empty by mid October and The Spanos family will announce the team is moving to LA in december.
david thompson (January 2, 2006 10:55 PM)
I think the Chargers will go 13-3 and be the AFC West Champs with a first round bye!!
Forrest (January 3, 2006 12:04 AM)
We'll be fine next year if we keep both QB's, go for Ty Law, and draft some young athletic lineman.
Raul R. Garcia (January 3, 2006 12:36 AM)
This off season will tell us how far the bolts make it next seasson. If they make moves with Rivers (like i hope they will) and sign drew to a long term contract. I honestly see us going to the super bowl and winning it all. GETTING SOME CORNERBACKS WONT HURT!
alfredo alcazar (January 3, 2006 12:45 AM)
Thank you A.J. for keeping people like Michael Turner & Philip Rivers. Also, I'm glad Butler and A.J. chose L.T. and more over Vick. Don't forget that the General deserves credit as do the soldiers. With this kind of leadership we can expect a SUPERBOWL DYNASTY!
Raul R. Garcia (January 3, 2006 12:47 AM)
I think the chargers will have an amazing season if we get all the right key parts in the roster. Focus #1 : PASS DEFENSE! Get at least 2 good veterans in the CB position so that the others may learn from them! Quentin Jammer should be moved from CB to FS or SS 'cuz he's more of a hard hitter and a deflector than a cover guy. Focus # 2 GET some better players on the Pass Protection...get some players to help ROMAN OBEN, MIKE GOFF, NICK HARDWICK. We'll be good if Drew Brees comes back. This season will fuel everyone to be the champs that they are next season!
Projections "3"= 12-4,13-3, 14-2!!!
Raf (January 3, 2006 03:36 AM)
The Chargers schedule for next year is a lot better then this years. I see the Chargers going 12-4 as long as LT stays healthy and Brees has a good recovery. I think the Chargers should use Clinton Hart more in the secondary and I want to wait and see if the o-line built any chemistry this year before we go and replace diehlman or oben. Shaun Phillips looked great on the d-line this year and the defense with a few improvements in the secondary could be amazing next year. GO BOLTS!
Peter from Connecticut (January 3, 2006 06:34 AM)
This is a much easier schedule than this last year. These are teams the Chargers need to just pound. As a fan, I see the team going 13-2, losses to DENVER & SEATTLE. But you never know which chargers team will show up: the dominant team or conservative team.
I am a dissappointed fan. The chargers had so many opportunities, and just as always they let the games slip away. The reason why we are not going to the playoffs: didnt take care of business at home!
Chargers Fan (January 3, 2006 07:32 AM)
I myself like so many faithful fans see so many passing plays begin behind the line of scrimmage , why ? I hope to see my chargers win the superbowl someday, can we do with this coaching staff ? Best of luck in 2006.
Rene (January 3, 2006 07:39 AM)
just keep being the bolts, i will support the bolts.
shane terrell (January 3, 2006 08:43 AM)
This is a much better schedule, but who knows. Every year we see a few surprise teams. We had a Great 2004, a Good year in 2005! In 2006 anything less than the playoffs would be a let down! Maybe Marty Ball will never see a superbowl? Chargers Forever....
Tuan in CT (January 3, 2006 08:59 AM)
You people seem to be a little too optimistic here. We were not good enough to make the playoffs this year...plain and simple. You can all ride the "best team not to make the playoffs" fantasy all you want but that will do us no good next year or anytime. Yes we have solid parts of our team but the fact is we are not good enough to make the playoffs this year. So tell me again how we will be 19 and 0 super bowl champs next year. I dont want to hear any more difficult schedule excuses. Good teams win games, and they do not play like the Granite Hills High JV squad against the Dolphins and Chiefs when their season is on the line. We are an average team PERIOD. If you want go look at all of the other "average" teams message boards who arent in the playoffs and you will see the same blind optimisum that you see here.
RANCID (January 3, 2006 09:08 AM)
DA BOLTS!!! LT will rush for 2000 yards, break S. Alexander's record (30 rush TD, 5 rec, 2 pass). LT is GOD in a #21 Charger uniform. After surgery, Brees has stronger performance than his Pro Bowl year. Merriman ends 4 more careers. Schottenheimer does not get conservative and closes games out. 11-5, 12-4...more like 18-1, and that one loss comes in the last regular season game due to the resting and relaxation of key players.
coach ditka (January 3, 2006 09:10 AM)
I think the Chargers will defanatly improve next season! they do need a better secondary though, and when they get it,..WATCH OUT!! 14-2, first round bye, homefield and a Superbowl title!!!!
Derek Pimentel (January 3, 2006 09:30 AM)
Oh yes. As far as River and Brees go. Keep 'em both. Let them battle it out in camp. Give Brees a long term contract anyway. You need two good QBS. AJ Feely is a competent 3rd stringer, but I liked Doug Flutie. You need some 'Energy' on both sides of the ball.
Also, Shawne Merriman took me by surprise. Way to go. Bring back Junior Seau for one year and let him retire a Charger. Also, a bit on the fans: Cheer for the Chargers whether good or bad. The home record should have support, not fair-weatheredness. Los Angeles is still an option no matter what anyone says.
ryan lee (January 3, 2006 09:48 AM)
This looks like a easier schedule. THE BOLTS will get butt. We did ok with the hard schedule they gave us this year. i would like to see another team with a hard schedule and still win as many games we did... GO BOLTS!!!!
#1chargergirl (January 3, 2006 10:57 AM)
I think da bolts can win 12 to 13 games if the strngthten da o-line aquire a playmaker at corner and posibly move jamme or florence to safety....we also need a speedy receiver that can stretch da field for lt and also free up antonio gates...rivers needs to be trade it, but the fact that bress got injured during the last game is gonna make the disicion a lil harder to make...specially if u think about how pannington's shoulde injury has turned out!!! dis schedule is mos definetly easier than what we faced in 2005 so there will be no room for excuses...win or lose im a diehard charger fan...go bolts!!!
g-da nasty (January 3, 2006 11:01 AM)
Hey Rancid, The glass is half full. You'll see, we'll make the playoffs. Support your team, bud.
BC (January 3, 2006 11:39 AM)
the raiders will probably pose a bigger threat next year but still be in last. i think that the broncos have the better chance of winning the division but the chargers schedule is in favor for the better record wich i beleive will give us the top seat and home field advantage. the chargers are going to need some help in the secondary which leads to think of us drafting a skilled corner or safety . with all those holes filled the chargers season will be a top offense and threating defense posing a great chance for our corners to defend in a more calm and patient fashion. the linebackers are looking great, if godfrey leaves we should put a vetran or just find a back up for cooper if an injury occurs.
go chargers
hue jazz (January 3, 2006 11:44 AM)
You know what? It comes down to the games we didn't win by less than 4 points. Those games are lost by having the games close, not by coming back, but because of poor decision by marty (Example:4 end zone passes starting at first and goal in the cowboys game having the best back in the league?) and lots of other decisions. I say Marty is not the guy who's going to take us to the Super Bowl. He knows how to get a team prepared for each game, but doesn't get them ready to win the big ones or once he is there in the game he lacks vision. Besides the draft and off-season player acquisitions and cuts, Marty should go, we should move Cam Cameron to Head Coach and how about bringing Norm Chow to offensive coordinator duties? Reunite him with his protegé Rivers and/or make a Perfect Brees, develop a great Vincent Jackson and make LT and Gates shine like the stars they are.
John from Tijuana (January 3, 2006 12:00 PM)
Looks like we can go at least 11-5 or maybe with a little luck as good as 13-3. I'm looking foward to going to a couple of road games next year, we had a great time in Indianapolis this year.
Steve G (January 3, 2006 12:45 PM)
It's foolish to predict at this point, with Brees out we are looking at a possible 3-4 game swing. He's an efficient QB and he knows his role/limits. Rivers has growing to do. Unless we get better on Defense and if Rivers is the guy we are looking at a .500 record. If we dont' get better on Defense we might be looking at a sub .500 season. If Brees comes back and we pickup a Pro Bowl Safety I can see a 12 win season and a strong post season. Remember our pass defense didn't improve from 04-05.
Jose Super Mercado (January 3, 2006 01:12 PM)
Well, I Think that the San Diego Chargers are the best team ever. with this schedule they are going to be undefeated, record 16-0, but they nedd to practice much thougher and hard and make sure mot to give too many interceptions and get more interceptions. Work with the offensive line an LT is going to do some records.

The chargers will have an awesome season..thats for sure! If the chargers add up better talent in the O-Line and get better CB's..then they're set for a great run at the upcoming season. Here's an idea with the QB issue: Now that Mike Sherman; the head coach of the Packers is gone...it would be hard for Brett Favre to think of returning to the packers b/c he said that he'd only return if Sherman was back. Now...here's the deal: The chargers should sign Brett Favre!!! If not that the chargers and packers should make a deal ...either chargers signing brees and packers signing favre and trading both of 'em including some draft picks and $..and then keep rivers..OR keep brees and trade rivers and some picks for brett favre if they packers sign him only to deal him away for some picks...This scenario is tooo bogus to happen but if it does..well it would be good for the chargers!
Raf (January 3, 2006 02:40 PM)
With this schedule there is no question that the chargers will make the playoffs and be in the top 3 in AFC and maybe...maybe the top 5 in NFL. Chargers need to get better secondary and O-line. they need to utilize L.T. a lot more in swing passes and screens. The passing game is very well and the recievers proved that you dont have to just watch out for L.T. when you play the Chargers! GO CHARGERS!!!!!
Jacob (January 3, 2006 02:53 PM)
there needs to be an upgrade to cb and lb
trade rivers to jets for abraham to have the corner rush on an elite level. then we need to pick up a cover corner and either cut or move jammer to safety. and we need upgrade to sfety pos strong needs to pack that wollup harrison type. and free safety needs speed and good hands offense needs o-line and a go to reciever. macardell great but a reciever to break tackles blow by opponents. owens W/o attitude, c. johnson, moss type. than we will be bowl bound
Leland Hernandez (January 3, 2006 02:55 PM)
I think the bolts can do it in 2006. I feel they will go 14-2 or even 15-1, they can easily win these games on their schedule.
Jeff (January 3, 2006 03:16 PM)
i think we have a shot to go 14-2,maybe even 15-1 if we can do what we couldnt do this season:close out games
josh russell (January 3, 2006 03:18 PM)
As a long time Chargers fan (from the first game played in the AFL in L.A.). I feel that 2006 should be the year that we win the Super Bowl if we cut down on the stupid pentities.
Gary George (January 3, 2006 03:48 PM)
Next years schedule is pretty fair. I see our squad going 13-3. 2006 will be the year of the bolts. Easiest schedule in the AFC West!
Lee (January 3, 2006 03:52 PM)
i think that the schedule looks promisiong but i dont think brees will be back next year, and if he's back i see rivers taki9ng the starting job away from him. i think that a 9-6 season is most probable, than this 12-13-14 win season their secondary is awful
fernando (January 3, 2006 04:06 PM)
I think the chargers will go to the playoffs with this schedule. they have the potential and if they keep most of the personel form the 2005 team. they could go to 13-3, 14-2, possibly even 15-1 provided that they practice hard and develop a better secondary. if there is a weakness in the ball club it is the secondary. Also If LaDainian Tomlinson was healthy and the o-line created more holes and options for him and some key lead blocks from the great Lorenzo Neal.
Shaun (January 3, 2006 04:18 PM)
12-4,13-2,11-5.LT will be the leading rusher next year. Bress will throw for the most td passes in the nfl!!!

What the chargers need to do is figure out how to close out games! A friend of mine mentioned that the chargers need to hire a strength coach or something..also help their stamina because they seemed too tired after 2 quarters...come on! Chargers shoulda made the playoffs! It's a real sour taste in the mouths of charger fans to see their favorite team's season end like this. '06 better be a redemption year for the chargers!! GO BOLTS!
Raf (January 3, 2006 05:01 PM)
That schedule seems pretty easier than the 2005 one. The 2005 schedule for the chargers, was one of the toughest ones. But, I know for sure the chargers will make the playoffs for '06.
Alyssa (January 3, 2006 05:13 PM)
The secondary had a better second half the season than most realize, most specifically Quentin Jammer. Consistency does need to be shown however. Linebackers and D-line are top tier, as proven by their #1 ranking against the rush this season. They should develop depth through the draft and free agency, because as they say, you can never have enough capable backups.
The biggest issue has got to be the O-line, specifically at Left Tackle. The Chargers need to pick up some big, smart, mean bodies to block more consistently for L.T. and Brees (or Rivers, however that turns out). A solid Left Tackle should be addressed through the draft or free agency, as Roman Oben is capable, yet aging and coming back from an injury. LEANDER JORDAN DOES NOT CUT IT. He's a temporary backup at best, unless HE can prove he can block consistently for 4 quarters, not 2 or 3. Too many times, he SPECIFICALLY gave up sacks late in the game because he wears down, most notably the one against the Broncos where Brees got hurt.
With these upgrades, I see the Chargers dominating the NFL next season, with a 12 win season and plenty of Pro Bowlers, and with a little bit of luck, a Super Bowl Victory.
Johno (January 3, 2006 05:31 PM)
If we shore up the pass "D" and get a monster pick on the "O" line, it doesn't matter how uncreative and conservative our coaches are. We'll finally have the defense for zone/prevent, and the line for LT to become a threat again. I foresee, a record of 13-3.
Mike D. (January 3, 2006 05:37 PM)
chargers will be the best afc team and go 13-3. and they will win the division and go to the super bowl!!!!!
ryan (January 3, 2006 06:06 PM)
I'm being realistic when I say a 10-6 season is most likely with the personnel and schedule we have. However, if we aquire a great corner, adjust a decent o-line, move jammer to safety, we will be better. I think Brees has proven he deserves to be the starter next year, because the numbers don't lie. Trade Rivers (who is good) which will loosen up lots of $ & possibly great trades will with it.
russ (January 3, 2006 06:21 PM)
Wow!! good looking schedule. I can see the Chargers going 12-4 with this campaign. Go Bolts!!!
GET BETTER BREES WE NEED YOU.fan4life
Eric (January 3, 2006 06:25 PM)
I think we go 11-5. Pitt Denver and KC (away) Seattle Cinci and Baltimore could be tough games. We just have to play better
chris (January 3, 2006 06:45 PM)
The bolts will win every game but the away Broncos and away Bengals. 14-2 and beyond to the Super Bowl.Go Bolts
Glenn (January 3, 2006 06:53 PM)
Yeah man, the chargers are gunna go 14-2 13-3 next year. And they are gunna get a AFC West Divisional Title, Win a First Round Bye, Win That Game, Then The AFC Title game and go to the super bowl. And then win the super bowl. GO BOLTS~!
Bill Johnson (January 3, 2006 07:40 PM)
Get that o-line fixed.. get Brees' elbow better.. and super bowl here we come.. GO BOLTS!
Jake (January 3, 2006 07:40 PM)
I think we have to improve our defense in the 4th quarter. We can't lose games like this year. Please, give the ball to Tomlinson and let him pass, he's very good at it. Marty should use more tricky plays. This 2006 calendar is comfortable to us. We have great receivers and two exceptional running backs... just give Brees more time and we can go to the Super Bowl.
Ricardo Castro (Hermosillo, MEXICO) (January 3, 2006 07:53 PM)
lt is the best back ever he didnt show that this year because of his line not blocking well.i see the chargers going 16-0.goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo chargers
aaron williams (January 3, 2006 09:03 PM)
2006 schedule looks promising . Depending on the dates of the east coast games, the Bolts should finish with around 12 or 13 wins. Keys are not to waste any more draft picks on secondary. Sign a veteran safety who can lead the talent of our young corners. Also replicate the turnover margin the bolts had two seasons ago. Simple math: don't turn over the ball, mix in a few turnovers on defense/special teams= playoffs.
Jason (January 3, 2006 09:32 PM)
Chargers can do pretty well against their opponents in 2006. Chargers I think will have a few night games again.
Josh West (January 3, 2006 09:59 PM)
Ok!!! All you people are starting to make me sick! What is up with all this B.S. talk that we're such a good team and that we'll be 12-4 or 13-3 next year? Believe me I love my bolts but the ABSOLUTE fact is this, Everybody is so happy that we have a sorry schedule next year because we "might" win the division. What about a "respectable" hard schedule like this years? We couldnt handle it!!!!!!!!!! Does that make us an elite team? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!! The chiefs had a harder schedule than the chargers down the stretch and they came through in the clutch! Why not the Chargers? Losing your last 3 of 4 is plain unexcusable!!!!! So L.T. is hurt, then don't play!!!!! didnt rush for more than 100 yards in the last 5 games but then complains that he had a broken rib! If thats the case then don't play! I think if your good enough to play your good enough to play , period!!!! Dont blame your injury or your OL! what about Barry Sanders when he was killing everybody back in his days with the Lions of all teams.....they had the worst OL probably in the history of the NFL, but that didn't stop him, did it? Good players and good teams come through in time of neccessity or as you would say " in the clutch" The chargers just aren't that kind of team, this season is proof of that! What gets to me is that everybody is all happy and excited because the Chargers went 12-4 last year ans everybody thinks wer'e super bowl bound now! big deal, remember that this team has missed the playoffs 9 out of 10 seasons!!!!!! there's is absolutely nothing to be excited about!!!! San Diego fans keep selling themselves short by saying" Oh we'll, it was a good season, at least there are signs of improvement"! Thats nothing but a bunch of PEANUTS!!!!!!!
No matter what players we have, always remember this: WE WILL NEVER MAKE IT TO THE SUPER BOWL UNDER MARTY!!!! I PROMISE YOU GUYS THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DONT FORGET IT, especially you A.J!!!!! thats it im done...........this from an abviously fed up Charger fan!!!!! Big time fed-up!!!
Rich (January 4, 2006 02:43 AM)
i think the chargers will end up with an 12-4 or 13-3 record this coming year and reach the playoffs first roundbye
alberto (January 4, 2006 02:58 AM)
With this schedule, the Chargers should qualify without problems to the playoffs, otherwise, Mr. Spanos should give thanks to Shotenheimer. Greetings from Puebla, Mexico.
Jesus Miranda Rodriguez (January 4, 2006 06:24 AM)
Hallo from Italy.. I think next year, with a good schedule, we'll be 12-4.. This year we have met 4 on 6 AFC playoff teams.. 2 of NFC..too much.. In a season ther is need to do almost 2-3 easy match.. Sorry for my bad english/american.. Who will be our QB next year? Go chargers..
francesco (January 4, 2006 06:33 AM)
Does anyone know the official stats for LT's game against KC. On some sites it says he rush for 49 yards in others it says 47 yards, this only matters because I won my Fantasy Football league if he rushed 49 years or lost it if he ran 47 yards. Let me know where to find the most accurate information. It says two different things on nfl.com, thanks
John (January 4, 2006 07:14 AM)
Should be a good year for 2006. All we need is a coach who can win and we will be all set.
Vinnie (January 4, 2006 07:31 AM)
the chargers will trade rivers and try to strengthen their very weak secondary, also with the draft they will look to tighten up the O-line. T.O. sounds good to open the passing lanes for Gates and L.T. out the back field or even the ground attack would be much improve. with this schedule the Chargers should make the playoffs next season with a record 13-3. with all the right trades and deals on line.
Robb (January 4, 2006 08:02 AM)
Those in San Diego should concentrate on keeping that stadium packed to the gills with crazy charger fans.....I hate watching the games and seeing more opposing fans than Bolts. DO YOUR JOBS TO FILL THOSE SEATS!!!!

To start, What a dissapointment this year was! And, their raising our season ticket price next year again and this time it's $120 per ticket. We better do something in the offseason to substantiate the increase.
Ok, top 10 issues in order of importance; 1) secondary, 2) pass protection, 3) Nate Kaeding(can't kick it past the 10 and scares me on FGs) 4) lack of deep ball threat(is it Brees' vision and/or arm or is it no WR threat), 5) run blocking, 6) LT falling to the ground more and more, 7) Special Teams, 8) play calling(is Brees deliberately throwing 2 yard passes and dropping back 2 steps or is it Cam Cameron???), 9) athletic players(turnover margin horrible) and 10) city council and Mayor against us!
Next year we must improve by at least 3 games. Going with Rivers will be risky, but I think I could take it. Watching Brees throw 2-3 yard passes is getting old and frustrating. Jammer is a good player and showed great improvement over the last half of the season(I think Merriman had a lot to do with Jammer's success). Merriman is the man! He instills excitement and toughness in our defense that we have not had since Junior and Rodney left. Wade Philips, stop taking Shawn out on 3rd down!!
We need to add a shut down corner and a hitter like John Lynch or Rodney and our defense will get it done. Need an Oline like KC has that can pull and block outside (you think Larry Johnson is that good, or maybe Willie Roaf and their other Pro Bowl lineman are making him look that good!).
Lastly, I think we should wear the powder blues all the time. We have no identity. When visiting teams are in our house, you can see their colors. Remember all those damn yellow towels when the Steelers were here, or the Broncos Orange, the Chiefs Red, Raiders Black, Jet's Green. You look at our fans and we're wearing dark blue, white or the powder blues! The stands don't look intimidating at all. As Chris Berman says, the powder blues are the best uniforms in the NFL!
Take care all and let's hope this off-season our Front Office makes 2006 a year to look forward to!
MIke (January 4, 2006 09:30 AM)
The schedule looks great on paper but the games are won on the field. I am in favor of moving Jammer to Safety and picking up a play maker at corner. The O-line could use some veteran help and if Jackson develops in to something special we could definately be headed to the superbowl in 06. Oh yeah bring back junior and give him that ring he deserves. BOLTS FOREVER!!!!
OC Charger Fan (January 4, 2006 12:15 PM)
Hey Rich and all you others who say the schedule has nothing to do with wins and losses, get a clue. None of the teams in the playoffs this year could have gone through our schedule this year and obtained the record they have. The fact of the matter is, the teams in the playoffs look to be ones that had MUCH easier schedules so it does matter what your schedule is. When we went 12-4, they said it was because we had an easy schedule. Well guess what, it is easier again next year so 12-4 or better is very likely. Like others, I say that the off season holds the key but we have a very good core of players.
Oh yeah, hey David Thompson, why don't you pack YOUR stuff and move to LA. Sounds like where you belong.
dave (January 4, 2006 12:37 PM)
It's too early to predict the Charger's record next year. The GM will make the necessary moves to improve the team. But they must play with a chip on their shoulders next year(I don't see how they couldn't with this year's debacle), or it will all be for nothing. This year they played like they expected to beat teams just because they were better on paper or had higher postseason expectations at the beginning of the season. They must learn that they have to take what they want.
jim burkhardt (January 4, 2006 12:38 PM)
This schedule is wonderful for the Bolts. IF they keep the boys healthy, I think 13-3 is very realistic. We have the best RB and best TE in the game. We have the best run defense. Drew Brees is in the top five in QB rating. You can not help but get excited.
Georgie (January 4, 2006 12:52 PM)
If the Chargers stay healty and play aggressive throughout all four quarter as apposed to protecting a lead, then we should be 15&1.In answer to Johns question here a quote from a S.D. paper(Tomlinson was credited with 49 yards on 15 carries. However, several reporters in the press box keeping play by play during the game had him with 47 yards on 14 carries. It's believed he was credited with a 2-yard run in the third quarter that actually was made by Lorenzo Neal. By the time the error was discovered, the NFL office was closed.)
david (January 4, 2006 01:03 PM)
I think if we move Jammer to strong safty instead of free safty, our secondary will strengthen. He is a great open field tackler, one of the best in the league and very aggressive. If he is in coverage, he might play too aggressive and thats where the penalties come from. He has great potential, he's just in the wrong place. Go Chargers!!!!!!!!

I feel we need to stop the win one wk, lose the next. We get so pumped for the game ahead we forget to think about the game we are playing. We HUMILIATED the Colts!! WE the San Diego CHARGERS broke their winning streak. We made history folks. Cry baby Manning had to say he lost to US!!! Then we end up humiliating ourselves by losing to the Miami Dolphins, which we should had that game in the bag! And the Denver game was just plain disapointing to any Charger fan!! We had so many stupid mistakes it was embarrassing! Let's re-group, get healthy N show those AFC teams what we r really made of people..And Yes I do agree with SDChargerFanNSC Our team needs our support, no support means no moral!! HELLO PEOPLE MORAL IS GOOOOOODDD!! I may live in texas but you can count on me wearing my jersy, hat, and drinking out of my Charger mug while watching EVERY game!!! Stay strong keep the head up and let's blow this popcycle stand next year!! BRING IT ON TO THE PLAYOFFS BABY!!!!DO IT DO IT

I have a few concerns about this Brees VS Rivers issue that some people are talking about..Other than the fact that Rivers is untested I am concerned about Rivers' throwing motion... he looks like David Carr! I'm not an expert on throwing motions, however,it seems to me that most of the sucessful QBs have an extended overhead arm motion which does two things:1,it allows them to use their lower body for more power(Baseball pitchers get their power from their legs)2,it allows them to release the ball at the highest point to take advantage of their height.Rivers is taller than Brees, however, the way he throws the ball he may as well be the same height as Brees..
manny (January 4, 2006 02:31 PM)
I say between 10-6 and 12-4, maybe 13-3 with a good draft pick.
RAIDERS SUCK!!!!

one thing that seems to get overlooked is schottenhiemers inability to finish games. the prevent defense and conservative play calling killed us this year.

I love this new schedule, it is not even half as tough as the last one. Whether it is Rivers or Brees, the SB is ours to lose!!!!

I can't wait for the San Diego Chargers to take on Seattle. I have missed seeing them play since Seattle left the division. It will be a tough game if Alexander stays with the Hawks. I will be there with my Charger garb to cheer on the CHargers who will take that win.
Charger Fan in Seattle (January 5, 2006 03:15 PM)
Consistancy is the key, we can't lose to the teams we should be dominating. Schedule this year hurt (as did teams coming off bye's week after week) I don't think they would do that to a Super Bowl Champ. You have to be ready every week not just when you're the underdog!!!
Go Bolts in 06!!!

The Chargers, and not the Chiefs, should be talking to Herm Edwards. I can't believe this team didn't make the palyoffs. As I've commented in the past, this team has NEVER had a killer instinct in my 45 years of life on this planet. Sure the players should shoulder a lot of the blame, but the rest falls squarely on Marty! Hell, a JV catholic school team could make the palyoffs next year with our 06 schedule. I want some answers for this year!
Patrick A. Anderson (January 6, 2006 09:22 AM)
can hardly wait till next year. I"m moving to Oregon in June of 06.I'm going to watch my Chargers whoop on Seattle. 16-0 Baby

Rancid must be a Raider fan. It's funny, I know several Raider fans who say, We'll take Brees if the Chargers dont want him.
Johnboltfan since 1961 (January 6, 2006 01:13 PM)
This schedule seems to be a lot easier than this past seasons. With only 3 east-coast games to play this coming season we should have a better record. I'm going to say that we'll finish off the year with either a 12-4 or 11-5 record.
Daniel (January 6, 2006 02:35 PM)
I think this schedule is great for the chargers. Enough competition to prepare them for a good playoff run, however, not so grueling that they will worn out
