Merriman Defensive Rookie of the Year

Shawne Merriman's relentless style of play made an immediate mark in the NFL, earning him The Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year award.

Voting for the 2005 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year selected by The Associated Press in balloting by a nationwide panel of the media came down to four rookie standouts, Shawne Merriman, Seattle Seahawks Lofa Tatupu, Cincinnati Bengal Odell Thurman, and Dallas Cowboys DaMarcus Ware

Shawne Merriman is awesome!!!
He is gonna be huge in the years to come!
He is one of the best linebackers to happen to SD.
I cant wait till next year to see more of "LIGHTS OUT!"

WTG Shawne!!!!!!!!
Thank you New York Giants and Sheli for such a great gift!!!!

Way to go Merriman! For only playing half the season, he sure did show his skills. (Leber Who) To bad they did not start RIvers last year, maybe we would have back to back rookie of the year awards? LIGHTS OUT!

Man the only thing I can say is LIGHTS OUT BABY!!!!

Obviously when a player wins rookie of the year they and their team is exited. But the fans are more exited. We now know that "LIGHTS OUT" is the linebacker of our future and he's going to be a good one.

it is pretty wierd that i bought a merriman jersey as my first. i couldve bought a tomlinson jersey, but i think merriman is going to be a star.
