Merriman in good company

Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman appeared today on ESPN’s Quite Frankly hosted by Stephen Smith. They flashed a very interesting screen of the past Defensive Rookie of the Year winner’s shortly before Merriman came out for the interview. It was an impressive list of players. Take a look:

lets just say that the list above is amazing...but woodson is the only cb. that shows how good he was, since he was also the only cornerback ever to win the heisman award.

I remember Leslie O'Neals rookie season--I still get upset when I remember how he got hurt--by his own teamate on a half cocked tackle attempt--I think Leslie posted HOF numbers but I can only wonder how much better he would have been if he had not had that devastating injury--the guy had 6 sacks in one game his rookie year!!! he was off the charts awesome--If Merriman can come close to Leslies' career #s he will be a national icon--for some reason Leslie never got the pub he deserved

I know it may be a bit premature to make a bold statement like this but I am going to do it anyway. I feel that ten years from now Merriman will be looked upon in the same light as an ex-Charger who used to wear #55. By the way, I hear that #55 is a free agent this year, how about picking him up for his final year and having him retire as a Charger....
