Sour grapes
Watching the wild-card games on ABC, I kept reminding myself that the Chargers beat both Washington Redskin and New England Patriots in the regular season.
Both the Redskins and Patriots looked impressive in their games. These two teams deserve a lot of credit, they overcame a lot to play this weekend and next.
Tomorrow we will watch the Giants, who take on the Panthers, and the Steelers, who play Cincinnati. If the Giants win, that will make three teams the Chargers beat in the regular season advance in the playoffs. If the heavily favored Steelers, who beat the Bolts on Monday night back in October, lay an egg tomorrow and the Bengals advance. I’ll be really bitter thinking what we could have, should have done. I know, could have, should have, would have... dont matter much now.
I know, I know. I sound like a bag of sour grapes. I can’t help it. Playoffs without the Chargers... brings out the worst in me.

I know it been said before, but, 'Next Year' is ours! No more of this almost, so close, excuse stuff. We have such a talented team... One year from now, Division Champs, First round bye, then the Super Bowl!! Stay positive. GO BOLTS!!

I agree 100%. The Chargers should have been in and are better than almost all of the teams in the playoffs.

I think most fans now are sounding like Chicago Cubbies "wait till next year" and they are right. I too can't wait. The up-coming draft is all I can think about. Would love for the Chargers to swing a deal and move up in the draft to grab D'Brickashaw Ferguson. The last play of the season for Brees writes this story. and with another pick for a fast wide receiver.. well I think sitting on the couch and watching the playoffs would be much more pallatable this time next year.

When the Chargers missed the playoffs, my interest in the playoffs deminished. I didn't even watch the first round of the playoff. Its like looking back at what could have...

I agree....was thinking the same exact thing. However, we have to look towards next season..I KNOW the Bolts can make it to postseason & beyond!! I believe they will have the mantra of "Unfinished Business" in their minds throughout next season & will be fired up..this squad is too good not to be in the playoffs...& they know it!!

I know just how you feel, it is going to make me sick to my stomach to see a potential Super Bowl matuchp of the Colts and Redskins or Giants, all teams that the Chargers handled this year. Then I have to remind myself that it is only the Chargers fault and they have nobody or nothing else to blame (strenth of schedule, east coast trips, etc). You have to be able to finish out games and certainly the Chargers did not accomplish that this year. Anyways, I can't wait for the draft in April and for the 2006 season to get underway, so we can see the Bolts back in the playoffs where they belong.

it is what it is .you are what you are. my bolts didn't belong in this years playoffs they were to inconsistent this year and the bolts only need to look in the mirror as to why they didn't make the playoffs this year. I don't feel pitty for my team , hopefully they'll learn from the short comings this year and won't let themselves done and us down. So don't get caught up in the sour grapes my fellow boltz fans its not our fault they didn't make it , you can blame the NFL for that wacked !@# schedule they gave the chargers hows that for sour grapes I'm pissed!!!!!

I was just watching the Bengals-Steelers game. I'm even more sour to see Carson Palmer get injured. If Brees wasn't injured, wouldn't he have been Palmer's alternate for the Pro Bowl??? How weak can this year get?
michael BOLTon (January 8, 2006 03:09 PM)
i know the bolts will be in the playoffs in 06. i know they will do what it takes to get there. in the bolts we trust.....

The Charger team that played the Colts, the Patriots, and the Skins, was not the same team the last three games of the season...

The Cha Cha's (on a good day) could beat any single team in the NFL, but i stilld on't think they know how to win, they don't have the swagger of the Colts or Patriots, they go out expecting a fight, they don't go out expecting a win. I think that the next three years has to be the year because were getting old. My man Donnie Edwards is a seasoned vet, and he won't be around to teach our secondary what it means to be a good defense much longer

I have to agree. Watching the Redskins play, then win, knowing that our BOLTS beat them, in their house made me feel a little pissed. Then to watch Eli in the playoff with the GIANTS, who we kicked the crap out of in our house....But, I'm not sour, I'm hungry for next season. We're taking it to the limit...A-3 Crew will be there!! San Diego Super Chargers...AFC Champs, then SuperBowl Champs...yeah baby !!

i know i was thinking the same thing. the chargers beat half of the playoff teams and their sitting at home.one good thing every day brings us closer to our next chance 2006. the year the chargers go all the way!!!. one other thing i watch the giants game today.wow thank god eli didnt want to stay in bolt land.THANKS MANNING FAMILY FOR GETTING LITTLE GOLDEN BOY OUT OF OUR TEAM!!!! GO BOLTS IN 2006

Look at the Jaguars with the exception of playing the colts twice (and losing both) they got in do to an easier schedule. The Jags has no business being their. So unfortunate for all Bolt fans.
Mike (January 8, 2006 07:23 PM)
One accomplishment that the chargers had is that did have a winning season despite have the leagues toughest schedule. The chargers have to close out close games, which they didn't do this year (and what's with getting swept by denver?). With a much easier schedule next season and revamped confidence. the chargers are going to win the division and be the most formidable teams in the NFL next season. go bolts....go all the way
Austin (January 8, 2006 08:55 PM)
Well, i believe in my team and we will survive the past season i also believe that our secondary will get better, yes our schedule was the toughest but thats no excuse we must put teams away, and take care of the football and leave it on the field Go bolts 2006 we will dominate....

Why is your title "Sour Grapes", yet you have a picture of a puckered lemon? Are you subconsciously calling the Chargers lemons? Are you trying to make a point about Cleo Lemon?
Bobby (January 9, 2006 08:14 AM)
Good point about Brees being Palmer's Alternate in this year's Pro Bowl. Who will "they" pick now to lead the AFC in place of Palmer/Brees??
Brian Sullivan (January 9, 2006 10:07 AM)
Yes, but we lost to teams that those teams beat. On the last point, I am still not sure why we traded Cleo Lemon... He looked good during preseason and will make a good back-up QB.
Ted (January 9, 2006 10:18 AM)
NEXT YEAR, NEXT YEAR, NEXT YEAR. We will be at the big show!!!!!
Adam (January 9, 2006 05:08 PM)
Enough about the schedule the Broncos and the Chiefs played pretty much the exact same teams and they both had better records. The Dolphins had the same record as us and they beat us in the head to head. I'm not sour we didn't make it the team that showed up the last two weeks would have been destroyed in the playoffs. And unless we get some serious help for next year it looks like we're in serious trouble because the the Chiefs got a whole lot better, and we know what the Broncos have done to us. Herman owns Marty and seeing him twice a year won't be good. It's time we get a quarterback that can throw more than 40 yeards, safties that can hit and cover, and lineman that can block or we'll be digressing instead of going to any playoffs.
