Wilhelm signs contract

The Bolts retained the last of its restricted free agents when linebacker Matt Wilhelm today signed the one-year contract tendered by the team in early March.

Matt should start - he is too good to be on the second team.

"Penn State - Assisted in stopping tailback Larry Johnson for a loss, causing a fumble on the play as he also came up with 8 tackles (6 solos).

Miami (Fla.) (Fiesta Bowl) - Led the team with 10 tackles (6 solos), stopping tailbacks Willis McGahee (twice) and Jarret Payton (once) behind the line of scrimmage."

Wilhelm is not a natural athlete. He must work at being as good as gifted players. The focus needed for this has been sadly lacking since the Chargers drafted him.

Well.... he may get his chance if Donnie Edwards leaves... but other than that, he'll have to hope for Edwards or Godfrey to get injured because I don't see him outplaying either player.
