Bolts rally falls short

The Chargers rallied from a 17-point deficit Sunday, but Lawrence Tynes' 53-yard field goal with six seconds left gave the Kansas City Chiefs a 30-27 triumph. LaDainian Tomlinson had a hand in two fourth-quarter touchdown throws, one as the receiver and one as the passer, as San Diego (4-2) came back to tie the game at 27-all with 5:10 left. The Chargers had fallen behind early as they turned the ball over on three of their first four possessions en route to a 20-3 second-quarter deficit. "The first-half turnovers killed us," said quarterback Philip Rivers. "The first one, I missed the pass. On the second one, I was squeezing it, but he popped the ball out of my hand." Rivers finished the day with 266 yards passing and two touchdowns, while Tomlinson accounted for 66 yards rushing, 72 yards receiving and one yard passing.

Either you score at the end of regulation or the game goes into overtime. No way should KC have been able to do what they did.

Another case of not being ready for the team you are playing. When are the top of the Chargers going to understand that this team is not going anywhere without a different head coach?

I thought there was supposed to be a ten second run off for a false start. The K.C timekeeper made sure there was 11 seconds left. Why run the prevent you from winning defense. You got to play gonzolez bump and run off the line. The Chiefs expected the Superchargers to come out throwing.
Marty is a good teacher but is a terrible game coach and should have been fired five years ago.
Here's the game plan for St.Louis, Stop the big play, don't overpursue on defense. On offense run the ball. Use Turner more. Try not to get into third and long. Use the screen more often. Fire Marty. STeroids do give you added strenght and speed but the main factor is it keeps your motor running on allcylynders for the whole game. I think cheating is wrong, Maybe I'm naive and idealistic. Fire the coach yesterday.

Since I live in Tucson, AZ I was not able to see the game, the one question I have is: In the 4th qtr on KC last drive did we use the "Prevent Defence"? is that why they were able to march down the filed in 30 seconds and kick the winning field goal? When will Marty understand that Prevent Defense means that the other team will win.

The season is a race, I refuse to get too high, or too low on each win to loss, as long as we have a winning make the playoffs record. Overall the Chargers are 4-2, however the defense has really got to get it toghther and play a whole lot better, at this point this is the weak link, I know the D CAN play much better. The kicker also always seems to miss crucial kicks that could turn games the other way. As for Marty's coaching grade so far, "B"...As a fan I can only ask, please play and guide the team in a manner as playing to win, as opposed to playing not to lose, you have the most balanced team in the league, please realize this. The Denver games are going to be big.

The problem wasn't the final drive for each time (our no score and their field goal).

You weren't watching the game if you didn't notice the 21 points off of turnovers.

You cant do that in KC! 1st qtr was a freak show!

KC only hurt us when we gave them an opportunity to score without having to drive 80 yards to do it (please stop it about the last drive... they shouldnt' have been in that situation to begin with).

The turnovers lost the game. PERIOD. Simple mistakes. Preventable. Protect the football.

I too am convinced that the Bolts will never realize their full potential with Schottenheimer at the wheel.
It should be noted, however, that Marty is not the only coach in the NFL losing games with the "prevent" defense - it seems every coach in the NFL does the same thing in similar situations.
Nonetheless, the future is bright and this squad has a solid foundation to build on. Look out next year once Martyball's a distant memory.
