Chargers select captains

Posted by Joel Price on September 10, 2009 – 4:59 PM

San Diego Chargers Head Coach Norv Turner announced today that the players voted for team captains for the 2009 season and selected Philip Rivers and LaDainian Tomlinson as offensive captains; Stephen Cooper and Jamal Williams as defensive captains, and Kassim Osgood as the special teams captain.

This is the seventh year that Tomlinson has served as a captain and the fourth for Rivers. Cooper is serving his first captaincy while Williams was chosen for the fifth year. Osgood is also a fifth-year team captain.

Why are “Daily Clips” over a month behind? Take it off the site if you’re not going to update it.

Norv, You made a BAD, BAD move releasing Gartrell. And now the Giants have picked him up because THEY know he’s going to be a great back one day. That was undoubtedly a STUPID move. And NOW, you’re going to put all of it on Sproles back? Please. Get real Mr. COACH!
Ravens are going to stomp our ass come Sunday. Their running game is going to run down the Chargers throat. And you’r enot prepared. If you pull this one off, I will be totally surprised. I dearly hope you have an “extreme” passing game lined up!

    GO Chargers!!!!

I expected to see a comment here about the absence of Merriman as a team captain for the defense. I find this very interesting as he is usually the one leading the team hype-up before the games. Any comments???
