Practice in Pictures: July 31

Posted by Christopher Smith on July 31, 2010 – 12:01 PM

First, a few shots from yesterday’s afternoon practice, the first two-a-day of the year.

TE Kris Wilson, shown stretching for a pass from QB Billy Volek, combined with TEs Antonio Gates and Randy McMichael to dominate the session.

Gates caught this pass during a team period despite heavy pressure from ILB Kevin Burnett.

Saturday morning began with a haze but the sun soon bore into the Chargers, media and fans despite mild temperatures.

A play after Gates tipped a pass to himself with his left hand and caught it on the move, WR Jeremy Williams stretched for this 40-yard reception near the right pylon.CB Antoine Cason stalks WR Legedu Naanee after a short catch during a team period.

CB Nathan Vasher eyes QB Billy Volek under center. Vasher had an interception during the second team period.

RB Marcus Mason, competing for a roster spot, flashes to the left side of the field during 11-on-11s.

QB Philip Rivers checks the defense before rocketing a spiral downfield to WR Malcom Floyd.

K Nate Kaeding, who said yesterday his groin is healthy, prepares to launch a kickoff as DE Derrick Jones hustles downfield in coverage.

Two referees attend Saturday morning's practice but maintain a low profile.

Stay true and keep pounding,
Christopher

    Hi,
For all the Canucks in SoCal. can we have some occasional updates on Vaughn Martin. Eh!
Is he able to practice yet?

The most important aspect of camp is this, not to get hurt. Most seasons have complications as a result of players not stretching or caring for themselves during this vital part of the year. Having your mind in the game and your body tuned to strengthening and refinements while paying close attention to your own personal limits is important to note. After all, everyone wants to be the best that they can be right out of camp, while it does the Charger family no good to have you out because of avoidable injuries or strains. Take good care of one another and have fun. I can’t wait to see the results of this mission. God Always, Lightning

IM SO HAPPY THAT THE SEASON IS FINALLY GONNA START. WHAT SUPRISES ME THE MOST IS THE BALANCE THE CHARGERS FINALLY HAVE. WELL MATHEWS WILL GIVE THE POWER THAT WILL COMPLIMATE SPROLES LIGHTINING QUICK BURST THRU THE WHOLE. I ALSO LIKE THAT NAANE IS GONNA START BELIEVE ME HES THAT GOOD ON 3RD DOWNS WHAT MAKES U THINK HES NOT GONNA B GOOD ON ALL DA OTHER DOWNS. WHAT I ALSO LIKE IS DA DEFENSE. WE GOT A VERY VERY GOOD SECONDARY. NATHAN VASHER AND QUENTIN JAMMER PLUS CASON AND STRICKLAND THAT CAN SPELL TROUBLE FOR QB’S ALL OVER THE NFL. ALSO OUR LB’S BURNETT HAS ALWAYS BEEN A BEAST SO HAS COOPER. OUR OLB ARE NOTHING TO FORGET I THINK THAT ENGLISH AND PHILLIPS WILL BE THE BEST PAIR OF OLB THIS SEASON. NOW ONE OF MY FAVORITE DRAFT PICKS IS CAM THOMAS. THAT GUY IS A MONSTER WITH CEASAIRE AND CASTILLO THATS A PRETTY SOLID D-LINE. PHILLIP RIVERS IS GONNA HAVE A CAREER YEAR THIS YEAR. WITH OUR O-LINE HAVING THE DEPTH IT HAS I BELIEVE WE WILL SUPRISE PEOPLE MORE THAN WE DID LAST YEAR WHEN WE HAD THAT LONG WIN STREAK. GO CHARGERS!!!
