Rivers Advances in Madden Cover Vote

Posted by Christopher Smith on March 29, 2011 – 12:34 PM

Update: Rivers will not advance to the quarterfinals after falling to Adrian Peterson in the second round. Peterson got 56 percent of the vote to Rivers’ 44 and will face Drew Brees.

Bracket-style voting for the Madden ’12 cover subject enters Round Two this week.

No. 1 seed Philip Rivers advanced to the Sweet 16, beating Oakland running back Darren McFadden with 67 percent of the vote.

Rivers now faces another running back, No. 9 Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings. Fans can vote for the Chargers quarterback through April 3.

The Rivers-Peterson winner will face either Drew Brees or Mark Sanchez in the quarterfinals April 4-10. Michael Vick and Andre Johnson are also on Rivers’ side of the bracket.

Each of the 32 teams had a representative in the bracket, half of which have been eliminated. The other No. 1 seed, Aaron Rodgers, also advanced to the Sweet 16, which consists of seven quarterbacks, five running backs, three receivers and a linebacker.

Stay true and keep pounding,
Christopher
