This Day in Chargers History: June 24
Posted by on June 23, 2011 – 8:41 AMJune 24, 2010 – The Chargers sign Darrell Stuckey to a four-year contract. Stuckey, a fourth-round pick out of Kansas, practiced with the first team before injuries halted his progress during the preseason. He played Week 3 against Seattle but was inactive the rest of the season.

This Day in Chargers History: June 19
Posted by on June 20, 2011 – 12:12 PMJune 19, 1995 – Linebacker David Griggs dies in a one-car accident in Davie, Fla. Griggs is the first player in team history to die while on the active roster. Griggs started 15 games for San Diego’s AFC Championship team in ’94 and made 72 tackles.

This Day in Chargers History: June 16
Posted by on June 16, 2011 – 8:50 AMJune 16, 2005 – Chargers linebacker Carlos Polk tears his Achilles tendon and misses the entire 2005 season. Polk returned in ’06 and played in all 16 games, making a career-best 19 special teams tackles and starting four games on defense, also recording two sacks. Polk played seven NFL seasons, all but one for San Diego, and now works as a special teams assistant coach for the Chargers.

This Day in Chargers History: June 13
Posted by on June 13, 2011 – 9:21 AMJune 13, 2004 – Quarterback Philip Rivers concludes his first mini camp as a Chargers player. Playing behind Drew Brees and Doug Flutie, Rivers completed 5-of-8 passes for 33 yards as a rookie, including a touchdown throw to Malcom Floyd.
