Rookie Orientation Photos

Six of the seven draft picks, most of the 21 college free agents signed by the Chargers and more than a dozen rookies on hand for a tryout took the field at 11 a.m. Friday for their first NFL practice. Fifth-round pick Johnnie Troutman watched with his arm in a sling due to a recent pectoral surgery.

OLB Melvin Ingram, the Chargers’ first-round pick, chases former LSU QB Jarrett Lee.

Second-round pick and DE Kendall Reyes doesn’t fall for defensive line coach Don Johnson’s false cadence, instead getting off the ball on the correct “snap.”

SS Brandon Taylor hauls in a pass during a defensive back movement drill under the supervision of new position coach Ron Meeks.

Fourth-round pick Ladarius Green works on his blocking with tight ends coach Jason Michael.

RB Edwin Baker of Michigan State, a seventh-round pick, takes a handoff up the gut.

QB Taylor Potts of Texas Tech, here for a weekend tryout, ropes a pass downfield.

Head Coach Norv Turner tells Green not to extend his arms five yards before the ball arrives and instead to run hard and put his hands up later.

Ingram, lining up on the left side of the defensive front, moved around often during Friday’s full-team drill.

Ingram addresses the San Diego media after his first professional practice.

Stay true and keep pounding,
Christopher

Charger Fans get ready….Five-four will not only make plays but he will lead others to be better. Melvin Ingram is as good of a man as he is a player…when you think of his combine workout ..physical attributes…his character is on that same level. He makes the Gamecock family very proud……He will make “BoltNation” proud as well. We joined the Charger family in mourning the loss of Jr. God Bless…”gratitude”…there is no joy without it!

    ..a rare gem.
