Mathews Still Not Cleared for Contact

Posted by Ricky Henne on September 11, 2012 – 1:51 PM

In his weekly press conference, head coach Norv Turner said that Ryan Mathews still has not been cleared for contact, and that he doesn’t have a firm date yet on when he will be.

“It could be tomorrow, or it could be a week from tomorrow,” he said.  “We’re continuing to evaluate him and hopefully it will be sooner than later.  But again, we’ll get an update tomorrow based on how much he’s able to do in practice, and the day he’s cleared, we’ll let you know.”

Mathews fractured his clavicle on his first carry of the preseason and has been working hard to get back out on the field.  Being cleared for contact is one of the last hurdles needed for him to be ready for game action.

Ryan Mathews needs to go, injury prone running back. We need a good running back, whos not going to be hurt evry year right out of the draft. Hes a waist of time, and time the chargers dont have.

Maybe he should try professional flag football instead.

Daniel and Javier you shame yourself. You talk as if Mathews plays 2 games a year and doesn’t put in the effort to try. Real fans wouldn’t post something like that here.

Ryan, take it easy. Just do what you have to and you’ll see the field in no time. Whether you sit against the Titans or not, just focus on getting better and when you are ready to go, give it what you’ve got.

I would like to see these two retards ‘daniel’ and ‘javier’ put on a helmet and run ONE play in the NFL. There would be two funerals ‘not’ to attend lol, because nobody cares about two dumbasses that have NO IDEA what it takes to make it to this league and the benefit of having Mathews in our roster

32 total rushing yards in game 1, Not a good sign. Mathews back on the field is going to help the entire offense. Nice win this week, the next couple would be nice , too. Considering the way the Chargers usually start a season. I look forward to Denver, Peyton and that offense looked pretty good.

Braxton 29 Has it Right Ryan Matthews is a Super Talent and is Primed for a Great Season ! When I was ih High School a freind and myself were slap boxing and he lunged at me i Duct The move He Hit the Lawn at a bad angle and broke his colar bone breaking a Colar bone Does not mean your injury prone just bad luck hiting it the wrong angle. A Real Chargers Fan Would not post the Comment that Braxton 29 Points Out

Daniel & Javier = why people in the game don’t listen to fans: too many fans don’t even know that they don’t know. Yap, yap, yap.

ryan is a young and upcoming back who has yet to reach his potential he should great flashes of the awesome playmaking skills he has during the last 5 or 6 games of last year.. he is prone to injury but so is every other back in the league as a long time charger fan im looking forward to ryan having his best season yet and the chargers going deep in the playoffs… let go chargers

Ryan is a competitor and just as frustrated as the fans are.Yes hes had injuries and missed some games, but he hasnt reached the tip of the iceberg. He has tremendous potential and i believe in his skill. For people 2 talk stupid and say get rid of him and get another back is retarded! You’ll feel stupid when he gets cleared and comes back with a passion and still tops 1,000 yards rushing. You might as well be a Raider fan talkin stupid crap outta your neck like them.Get well Mathews and prove all the haters and doubters wrong..Lets go Bolts!!!

Glad to see the TRUE fans out number the fair weather, band wagon jumping so-called fans. When Mathews comes back I hope he makes all of them eat their words. GO CHARGERS.

i cant wait to see mathews play. he’s the best ever. woohooo! you just cant take the chance of re-injurying an injury too fast. fans let it heal or it can be worsen. im sure mathews is more excited about playin than us wanting to see him play. Be positive Daniel and Javier just like Mathews.
