Mathews in Full Pads for Practice
Posted by on September 13, 2012 – 1:55 PMPractice just got under way, and Ryan Mathews is participating in full pads for the first time since fracturing his clavicle.
Will have more information about the extent of his work after practice on Chargers.com, but it is certainly a positive sign in the right direction.
Quentin Jammer also returned to the field today after sitting out yesterday’s session.

Ugh, With all of our recent injury history don’t you think rushing him back is a little short sighted? Let the bone heal already before you put him back out on the field!! I smell a bad ending if you put him in too soon. What’s the rush?

Bruce, totally agree. I really don’t think the titans will stop the Bolts. I don’t think he will make the difference in the game in regards to the bolts ensuring a win. Let him rest.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the team benched him against Tennessee. He should focus against Atlanta right now. Unless the team seriously needs him, he should ease his way back into the swing of things.

If he is cleared let him play. Doctors obviously said the bone is healed. Once it is healed, he has no more risk than any other player.

The Chargers need Ryan Mathews back because having only 30+ rushing yards in a whole game won’t get the job done. If the Raiders didn’t have all those bad plays on special teams they would’ve probably lost. I’m glad they won, but they can’t expect to play like that every week and come away with a win.

Completely agree with John. If the doctors clear him for contact and say his bone is 100% healed, then he is in no more risk for injury than any other player on the field. IF this is the case, suit him up because we all know we can use a more balanced attack

He’s soft. Put him in there. His clavicle may be healed but he’ll break/strain/sprain/tear something else real soon

I believe we can win this game without Matthews. Don’t get me wrong, he is a phenomenal athlete, and I love seeing him on the field. I feel like he’d be better if he took another week off for that bone to heal.

its true he has been cleared, but its now up to matthews to decide whether he wants to play or stand on the side line and get injury pay, eithr way, its up to him.
