Butler Named AFC Defensive Player of the Week

Posted by Ricky Henne on October 3, 2012 – 11:35 AM

Following a monster game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Donald Butler was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week. In the game, the third-year pro notched six tackles, half a sack, had one pass defensed, and, perhaps most impressively, had an interception returned 21-yards for a touchdown.

Want to congratulate Butler? Leave a message in the comments below and we’ll be sure to pass them along.

It was apparent from last season that Donald had grown into a fine middle linebacker. His play so far this season continues to show that he will be a upper teir player for years to come. AJ better get a long term contract on Donald while the season continues. Donald has all the skills and strength to be one of the best in the game.

You are continuing the eternal legacy of Seau. He would be proud of our defensive play and vigor to get to the ball. Play fast, play hard and watch the back side release on pass and run plays. Kick some tail in the bayou.

Butler I remember watching film on you from when we drafted you out of Washington, and even though u sat out a year cause injury im so glad we didnt go middle linebacker the year later.. cause man we here in SD have a tradition of awesome Linebackers and your definately coming into the fold.. but hey I already knew that years ago from the film!!! way to go homeboy keep grinding all day!!

Way to go Butler. You were a beast out there flying all over the field to stop KC. Now go into New Orleans and continue to do to the Saints what you did to the Chiefs.

Butler is the key. If he can rattle Brees, Brees will lose his cool and start throwing intercepetions.

We got Butler playing out of his mind so far this season. Melvin Ingram is coming around. If our front 3 can handle a few double teams Butler and Weddle are going to light Brees up on blitzes. I would love to see Butler wearing a pro bowl jersey this year as vindication for the injury and what he has done to get back. We need you my man keep doing what you are doing. Glad to have you. LETS GO BOLTS! Holla if ya hear me.
