Collinsworth Says Bolts Have Chance to Go Far

Posted by Ricky Henne on October 6, 2012 – 2:56 PM

Chris Collinsworth is one of the world’s most renowned names when it comes to football, and even he is caught up in the Chargers fast start to the season.

Here’s what he said the day before San Diego’s big game vs. the Saints:

“I think typically you think of an offensive show when it comes to the Chargers, especially under Norv.  They put up a lot of points and you get balls down the field to big name guys like Antonio Gates.  They’re exciting.  But the thing that stuck out watching them on film getting ready for this game is how much better they look defensively.  I want to see how this defense does against Drew Brees. They’ve done it so far when you look at the stats and the tape.  But now, can they continue to play like this against this Saints offense in this stadium against a desperate team that has to win? Ultimately, if this team is going to come back here and play in the Super Bowl, that to me is going to be the key.  If they continue to grow, based on what I saw, this team has a chance.”
