Excited for Monday night’s game vs. the Denver Broncos? Here are some key notes to get you fired up for the big game.

  • Norv Turner has a 15-10 record in nationally-televised night games while with the Chargers (2007-12).
  • Turner has 114 career wins, tying Don Coryell on the NFL’s all-time wins list. Turner has the best winning percentage in team history (52-33, .612 in regular season and 55-36, .604 overall). As the Chargers’ head coach, Norv is 23-9 (.719) in AFC West games.
  • Philip Rivers has a 7-3 record in 10 games on Monday Night Football, including 17 TDs, five interceptions and a 105.2 passer rating.
  • Rivers has a 9-3 record versus the Broncos, including 20 TDs, seven ints and a career passer rating of 102.7.  He has an overall record of 40-8 in games in which he has a passer rating of 100.0 or higher.  Rivers is 28-10 as a starter versus the AFC West.
  • Rivers has started 101 consecutive games. Eli Manning is the only quarterback with more consecutive starts (124).
  • Antonio Gates (7,926 yards receiving) needs 55 yards to pass Ozzie Newsome (7,980) and move into fourth on NFL’s all-time list for yards receiving among tight ends.  In Week 3, he became only the fifth tight end in NFL history with 600 career catches.
  • The tandem of Rivers-Gates has connected on 49 touchdown passes, most by a QB-TE tandem in NFL history.
  • Ryan Mathews has rushed for more than 120 yards in his last three outings versus the Broncos (120, 125, and 137 yards).
  • Malcom Floyd is averaging 17.9 yards per catch, third among the top 25 reception leaders in the NFL.
  • Eric Weddle’s nine interceptions over the past 21 games (since 2011) leads the NFL.
  • Jarret Johnson made his 100th career start last week against the Saints.
  • Shaun Phillips has 64.5 career sacks, fourth in team history. Phillips needs one sacks to tie Lee Williams (65.5) for third, and he needs 2.5 to tie Gary “Big Hands” Johnson (67) for second. Phillips leads the team with 4.5 sacks, 11 pressures and six quarterback hits.
  • Mike Scifres’ has 512 career punts, including 203 inside the 20-yard line. Of all of the players with 500 career punts, Scifres has the highest percentage of punts landed inside the 20.
  • With a win in Week 2, A.J. Smith became the winningest general manager in franchise history. The team now has 94 wins in 2003-12 under Smith. The team won 92 games under Hall of Fame GM/coach Sid Gilman.
  • Twenty-one of the 53 active players are new to the active roster this year: 12 of 25 offensive players and nine of 25 defensive players.
  • The Chargers play the sixth toughest schedule in 2012, based on their opponents’ .520 winning percentage in 2011.
  • The Chargers’ streak of 151 straight games with a touchdown scored – dating back to Nov. 24, 2002 – ended in Week 3.
  • The Chargers will travel the third-most regular-season air miles of any team in the NFL (25,766). Only Oakland (28,692) and Seattle (26,200) will fly more air miles than the Bolts in 2012.
  • Peyton Manning vs. the Chargers has thrown 12 touchdowns and 16 interceptions in seven games in the regular season. Manning’s minus-4 touchdown-interception differential is tied with Cleveland for the worst in his career. Including two playoffs games in which San Diego won both, Manning was 4-5 against the Chargers as a Colt, including 1-5 in his last six meetings.
