Turner: Brown Still “A While” Away

Posted by Ricky Henne on October 16, 2012 – 2:13 PM

Head coach Norv Turner updated the media today on the status of wide receiver Vincent Brown, who is rehabbing from a broken ankle.

The news wasn’t as promising as we had hoped as the second year receiver is still a while away from getting back on the field.

Here is what Turner had to say:

“I don’t think we can put a game on (his return).  He’s in the middle of his rehab, and he’s like any other guy who has an injury.  He’s got to go one step at a time, and when you take one step, then you see where he’s at and you see if he can make it to that next step.  He has not been on the field yet.  It will be a while before we give you specific timing on when he’ll be able to play.”

FIRE TURNER, AJ SMITH, HIRE JOHN GRUDEN! Spanos should sell team or start from scratch. It is not River’s fault entirely he can still get the job done, he’s probably as frustrated ith the coaching staff as much as the fans… can’t wait to get vincent brown back.

Rivers is not the problem just like Brees wasn’t the problem when he was here. Rivers just feels the enormous pressure to take it all on himself. He has no blocking which means tons of pressure with only 4 guys coming after him. It also means no run game because Matthews is a hole shooter not a powerback who can run over people. Same reason why Chris Johnson is not running well. We need help on the line and that could change everything. Also, we need to stop using our receivers like they are VJ because they are not. They are not going to fight for the ball. Norv is sucking. He does need to call plays which suits this offense. The talent is all there. We can still do it. I have faith but we need to beef up our O line. And C’mon man! Gruden is not coming here. Either is Cower. If they were agreeable, they would be here already. So forget all that nonsense. Norv is a good offensive coordinator and if he can figure out how to capitalize on what we have, we may still have a chance.

The poster uptop cmon man’ must be in denial or owns rivers in a fantasy league…. rivers is an arrogant idiot and the chargers stink!

The come on man post is actually really accurate. Rivers doesn’t suck at all, he proved it for many years before these last 2. It’s obviously chemistry with his recievers because he never had these problems in the past. I am not happy with him at all right now BUT he will pick his game up. No QB’s can be good with his O-line either, he’s constantly pressured to throw the ball before he wants to which leads to Corners undercutting routes and recievers not being on the same page. We also have no recievers that are go-getters which is what rivers had with Vincent Jackson.

Joe, interesting response. Just pointing out that if I was posting because of fantasy football and owning Rivers, my post would probably be the same as yours.

Brendan, exactly! Hopefully Danario Alexander can provide the spark we need on WR and hopefully Gaither is healthy the rest of the year.

I believe Rivers problem arises from him sticking up for Norv in off season I believe he feels extreme pressure now to do good and look at what this is causing..A happy foot Rivers!! Lets stick behind them for the rest of the season and see where chips fall…

Are you all supposed to be Chargers’ fans?! Yes, we should get rid of Smith and Turner, but how DARE you knock on Rivers like this! There are very few, if any, players in the NFL that are as competitive as Philip Rivers. He’s got a better career QB rating than Drew Brees for god’s sake! Shame on you bandwagon fans.

No team as far as my understanding has worse fans then the San Diego Chargers. I mean come on guys stand behind your team and root for them not tell them that they suck. Go Bolts!

I have been a fan of the Chargers since I was 6 years old (1993). This is not Norv Turner’s fault. You are correct in arguing that he called too many passing plays last week against Denver. However, the true problem is Rivers. He is not as good of a QB as he is made out to be. Somebody said he has a better QB rating than Brees. That is because he had Jackson, Tomlinson, Gates, Sproles to catch his passes. Anybody would have an incredible passer rating with that quartet of offensive talent. Shame on you for pointing the finger at Turner. Rivers cannot throw the ball well (lobs the ball on every throw), and when he is being pressured, forget it! just take the damn sack!!

AJ Smith has ruined all the potential this team ever had. Rest in Peace John Butler…and thank you for the great players you put together for this team many years ago. The fact that AJ let Drew Brees walk away for nothing speaks for itself. He not only has gone on to be the best QB in the league since then..surpassing Marinos record…Johnny U’s record…and ofcourse bring New Orleans that coveted Super Bowl trophy us San Diego fans so long for. But this man also cut Junior Seau…who with nothing left …went on to play on the undefeated New England Patriots team..only losing at the final seconds in that dreaded SuperBowl.Don’t think AJ had any responsibility at all in Junior taking his life…hmmm. Wonder how things might have turned out had he been able to be the continued leader on the team he carried on his shoulders all those years. He literally gave his life to this team. But that control freak also sent Marty Schottenheimer packing after a 14-2 season. And how bout letting Vincent Jackson now go…for nothing. While spnding to bring in Meachem. Wow. And we all know how he wasted the talents of Ladanian Tomlinson….who should have been wearing a ring himself by now. But AJ as you know…coveted Rivers. Have you ever seen a true champion conduct himself the way Rivers does. Ever see Drew Brees waving to an opposing quaterback while calling him a baby. did anyone think Cutler looked like a baby last nite. How bout them Bears? Did Aaron Rodgers ever complain while sitting and learning behind Favre…and then complain publicly that he should be played or else traded…alas…allwing Brees to just walk off into the sunset. Did anyone see Rivers wave off Norv near the end of the Broncos game last week. You ever see Brees do that…or Brady. Or anyone for that matter. Who is seriously leading this team? With so much talent…even now. It’s a real shame. And how many times after the offense comes off the field do you see Rodgers and especially Brees studying in game pictures and coverages. You ever see Rivers doing the same. Enough said. i think thats about it for now.

Read this, I could have respected your opinions about football and believe AJ has made some mistakes. Big mistakes. Including LT, and VJ. Some people don’t like Rivers. That is fine. But to blame him or suggest that he had anything to do with Junior’s death is probably the most dim-witted thing I have ever heard and frankly discredits anything else you had to say. I sincerely hope you are not the inhumane dolt you appear to be from your comment.
