Alexander Blog: I Love the Love

Posted by Ricky Henne on November 15, 2012 – 5:12 PM

The following was written and submitted by wide receiver Danario Alexander.

First off, thanks for letting me write the blog this week.  You fans have been great since I’ve been here.  I love the love you all are showing me.  That’s one of my favorite sayings, I love the love, and I want to go out there each Sunday and show my thanks for it.  You all have embraced me.  I’m happy I’ve been able to have a big impact on these games, and I want to keep it going.

It feels great to be back on the field again playing football, and feels even better to be playing it at a high level.  I wish we would have won down in Tampa, but it always feels good to have a good game like that and I hope to be able to do it again, this time with a win.

Whenever I score a touchdown, I have my own little celebration making an X with my arms.  You might have noticed it.  A bunch of fans have asked me about it, and it started in St. Louis.  I went on the radio one time and they gave me the nickname “DX” so that’s how it all got started. Now I flash it every time I have a big play or touchdown.

Before I signed with the Chargers I was busy training and getting healthy.  I was down in Miami for a few weeks to get my hamstring right and work on my speed.  Then I came back to St. Louis and just worked out.  It was kind of a tough time, but in the end it all worked out for me because I ended up here in San Diego.

I haven’t had much of a chance to explore the city really.  I spend most of my time at the facility, and when I’m done there, I usually just head straight home, sit down on the couch and watch some TV.  I’m really into Breaking Bad and Shameless right now.  I watch them on my Netflix.  If you have any recommendations for what shows to watch next I’d love to hear them!

Well that about does it for me.  Thanks again for embracing me the way you have. I love the love, so keep it coming and I’ll keep giving it out also.

D.A.

    Danario,
I wore my 84 Alexander Rams hoodie on Sunday in St. Louis and ran around the house screaming after that touchdown. A couple of minutes later I realized I started you in fantasy too and gave out another cheer. Keep the big plays coming because it makes so happy to see you doing it big. It makes me happy because you’re an inspiration to me D. I tore my ACL, MCL, and Meniscus in ’09 as a freshman in high school. Dr. Smith was my savior just as he was yours. He allowed me to come back better than ever. At the same time, it was your example of perseverance that helped me along the way. You’ve always been my favorite player Danario: from Mizzou to St. Louis to San Diego and beyond. Even if you’re tearing it up against my beloved Rams, I’ll still be loving it. Thank you for being a great example of relentlessness to everyone out there who has struggled and looked for hope and inspiration. Your story is as good as any other because you never give up. Keep doing amazing things DX. A lot of people are behind you cheering you on to more success and I’m definitely one of them.
    Thank you,
    Alex Mackin

    Hey Denario

Great to have you here in San Diego. I’m a native of San Diego so I’ve seen a lot of Charger football. To me you have a superior skill set. I hope you have all the success in the world.

As far as TV shows you might want to check out a show on Show Time. Show Time is a pay as you view channel. You probably already knew that but I just wanted to make sure. Anyway the show is called Homeland. It’s basically a series about the Homeland Security of the United States government. That is it includes the CIA and the FB

Keep up the good work man!

As for Netflix shows, I just got it myself, and I too was addicted to breaking bad til I finished off all the seasons in like a month. Check out Walking Dead, Louie (hilarious), and Arrested development if you haven’t already. AD is old as hell but I just recently got into it.

You’re doing great things, DX! For a receiver to have the capability to stay on their feet after a tackle is a true sign of talent and skill. Keep up the good work! As far as shows to watch: I just started Sons of Anarchy and it’s addicting. Maybe you’ll like it?

    Hey DX,

Keep doing your thing bro!, finally a member on the offense that shows some life and attitude! Stay on your grind and things will come to you (I read in your messages that you know that God is good). I’m in N.J. and I have pulled for my Bolts since I was a youngster back in 79. Keep ballin’.

Shows to watch: The Walking Dead! (more to it than just zombies, trust me). “Boss” would be my second…And bro since you play like a warrior, you got to check out the whole “Spartacus” series, trust!

    Hey DX,

Been a football fan all my life and just started fantasy last year. I am always looking for talent that other people overlook because they are too busy listening to what the other talking heads say, instead of thinking for themselves. After the draft I was looking for another sleeper receiver and was like “o my, how is no one onto this guy from st. louis.” Well, you know the pain you had to go through and it has made you stronger. When I saw you had three catches two weeks ago, I thanked God for answering a little prayer I said to just watch out for you because you seem like a stand up guy that keeps grinding it out and I asked that you would be able to do what you love again.

Then I got you of the free agent market and promptly started you over many studs in the league, because guess what, you are the stud because you know football is all about mental toughness and going after what your heart desires, the body just follows. You got skills, sir, but an even bigger heart. You will succeed in whatever you do in life, you got the right attitude, listen to that Rivers guy also because it never hurts to hang out with a guy that has the son of a carpenter for a boss. Check out The Borgias on showtime if it is on netflix, devious fun. God Bless and keep smiling.

DX Keep it cracking bro! Theres nothing like seeing your team’s players make huge plays, especially nasty TDs like the one you pulled off in Tampa.I was fist pumping. So far so good.I hope you do the same to the Donkeys tomorrow. Its payback for that game we let slip away after having them on the ropes with their mouthpiece hanging out.Its been a little dissapointing this year but real die-hards still keep the faith. We can do this!!You pull through tomorrow DX, you’ll be the hottest waiver wire pickup in fantasy leagues since its the trade deadline.Go get em..
Now that i know your nickname,i can’t get that XZIBIT song out of my head.I think its called X…Bump that in your headphones pregame…
Win lose or tie,SD till i die!!!

DX, Welcome to SD my man. I think your just what Rivers needed, a big tall powerful WR. Why Meach has not worked out is anybodies guess as most of us figured he would take the #1 role. As much as I like Malcom Floyd, I think your a better fit for the #1 guy. Just try to stay healthy man, if so I see a lot of #84 jerseys being sold. You have brought this team something it needed very much, a glimpse of hope. I was one of the lucky ones because after your first game, i snatched you off the waiver wire and now have you playing next to V Cruz on my fantasy team. I wish you the best her in Dago and I think you have what it takes to be an elite WR in this league. St. Louis dropped the ball on you, and now its time to show em with a 3rd straight HUGE game up in Denver. Talk to Rivers man, he needs help, he needs to know he has guys he can trust and to just throw it away if the play is not there. Its hard for us fans to watch what has happened to him, help em out man, help yourself and the rest of us out. Go torch the Donkeys for 150 and 2 TD`s……………….

God bless you DX. You know I am just amazed at your strength and determination. You are a real hero and you are showing people that no matter how bad things are there is always a bright spot. You are shinning now and I am so happy to see this. You have a strong heart and mind. Never give up and keep living your dream and know that there are many fans that love you. Keep smiling and good luck in the future.

P.S. I have added you to my fantasy football team. I added you because I read about all of your surgeries and how determined you were to come back and play. I am very impressed and I have faith in you. I see talent and I also see a strong individiual on and off the field.

All of Marlin, TX loved it. By the way, I showed your MHS highlight video to our young Bulldog footballers. They’d love to be like you one day. We will all see you next summer at your Marlin football camp! God bless & God speed!

LISTEN DX! FIRST OF ALL YOU HAVE A HOME HERE IF YOU WANT IT BAD ENOUGH. IS IT TIME FOR YOU TO BE A NUMBER 1? I THINK IT’S A POSSIBILITY
LOOK MAN YOUR NEW BUT WE NEED A VOICE. I KNOW IM NOT IN THE
“LOCKER ROOM’ BUT I CAN SEE WE NEED A RAY LEWIS TYPE LEADER! DEMAND FROM OTHERS EXCELLENCE THROUGH NOT ONLY YOUR PLAY BUT ALSO THRU YOUR WORDS AND ACTIONS.

RESPECT FOR TAKING YOUR MEDICINE FROM MR. JOYNER ON THAT 2ND TD IN DENVER.

SAVE NORV’S JOB AND HE WILL MAKE YOU A STAR!
