The problems with the franchise are deep rooted. The Chargers have let far too many star players leave the team rather than let them retire as Chargers over the years. Just a few examples are Lance Alworth, Ernie Ladd, Jr Seau, and London Fletcher. The team needs to retain players like this to the end in order to build stability, loyalty, gained inspiration, and transfer the skills that they developed to younger players. Plus, turnover/ release of high quality talent has come back to bite the Bolts as we have experienced.
In the future, when a GM has a problem with the Head Coach like AJ had with Marty then you tell them both to work it out and get along. We could have had some high flying years (6) if Dean had shown some leadership chutzpah.

Mr. Spanos, you got it half right. We have seen far too many years of watching pro-bowl and hall of fame quality personnel head on down the road while trying to build a new team every year with whatever your general manager permits the coach to field. But to fire Turner because there is only so much that he has to work with? I work in a management position and I would have quit a long time ago if I was continuously staffed with new personnel and expected to put in a steller performance right out of the gate. Now that you have made the decision, be sure to put a GM in place that will actually recruit and RETAIN some talent for the new HC to work with. The Game Ball? Coach Norv and Phillip Rivers for yet another season of hard work, dedication and their passtion for the game and the city of San Diego. Norv, good luck in the future, I know wherever you land it will be on your feet. Phillip we all look forward to another year of your talent and leadership. Here's to 2013. Happy New year all.

Norv is probably a great person, but I haven't seen anything that could be called "genius" during his tenure. The total philosophy must change from skill players first, then line options. Build from the middle out. Bye Bye AJ and Norv. Now, will Sanos wake up and know what must be done? We're waiting!

I hope Hardwick returns, but he may opt to retire. He's been a great Charger!

Hate to see Norv go, he is a very good coach and the players obviously play for him. They as a group are just not talented enough to win the required amount of games to get into the playoffs. The majority of the teams problems in my opinion were caused by A.J. letting quality players leave, not signing decent replacements and the massive amount of injuries to key players the last two years. Good Luck Norv - wish you were staying. This is one long time season ticket holder that will miss you and your brilliant offensive mind.

Happy for Gates, sad his career is winding down with this mess of a GM/HC/Owner combo. Time to cut ties with AJ and Norv...er, that honestly was years ago. Now it's just being rubbed in our face. I would have liked to see Pagano take the lead for a few games before making a call for 2013. Unfortunately we had to endure more wasted time to go with our wasted resources constantly walking out the door to other teams.
