Antonio Gates: Awards Presenter

Posted by Jordan Beane on February 12, 2013 – 12:32 PM

Unless you fell asleep while watching “King of The Hill” reruns or have a child under the age of 12, you probably did not tune into Cartoon Network’s Hall of Game Awards last night. Hosted by Nick Cannon and Shaquille O’Neal, the Hall of Game Awards are the ESPY’s for the tween generation (and are just as meaningful). This laid back awards ceremony includes categories like Fanatic Fanstars, That’s How I Roll and Dynamic Duo. Though no Chargers were up for an award, a certain tight end was on hand to present one.

On hand to co-present the Dynamic Duo award, Antonio Gates was introduced as “one of the greatest tight ends of all time” before appearing with Dominic Monaghan of “Lost” and “Lord of the Rings” fame. While certainly not hobbit sized, Gates at 6’4’’ towered over the 5’7” Monaghan as they went through their presentation. Here’s what they had to say –

Monaghan: When people hear the words dynamic duo, they usually think Batman and Robin.

Gates: Or Mordecai and Ribgy, or Jake and Finn.

Monaghan: Jake and Finn. You know what time it is?

Gates: Adventure Time!

After dropping a little cartoon knowledge for the people watching, Gates presented the Dynamic Duo award to the winners, Victor Cruz and Eli Manning.

While the whole Hall of Game Awards may seem silly (and it is quite silly), Gates tweeted earlier the reason he enjoyed doing it so much:

Best part about the show , spending it with my son.
