Greetings Chargers Nation!
Posted by on July 19, 2012 – 11:12 AMWhat’s up Chargers fans? Kendall Reyes here. I’m real excited about doing this blog and giving you guys some insight into the life of a rookie.
It all started with the draft obviously, and I’ve been real busy since then. It was really special when I got drafted because I had my whole family with me. And I mean my whole family. It’s been a long time since we were all together like that so that meant a lot to me.
After I was selected, I came out here and did the press conference, which was a great first experience. Then I went back home and worked out for two weeks before coming back here and getting started on the OTA’s. That was another great experience as I got introduced to the playbook and met a lot of the guys. I’ve been learning a lot since then, and I feel like I’m fitting in well with the team. I’ve been working really hard to try to get used to a new system and playing with my new teammates.
The last couple weeks I spent back home, but have still been working really hard. I had the rookie symposium, which I really enjoyed. And now I’m back in town for good and ready to get started. California’s beautiful, and while I haven’t had a ton of free time, when I do get some time to myself I’ve gone to the beach a bunch. I also checked out Sea World which was pretty fun too.
It’s really nice out here, but to me it’s all about working hard and getting better every day. I’ve been working with Jacques Cesaire a lot. He’s one of the guys on the defensive line that has been looking out for me and helping me get ready for training camp, which starts Sunday when rookies report.
It’s hard to express just how excited I am for it all to begin. I definitely want to prove myself to this team and organization that I will do anything to help this team win. I’m excited and ready to compete and ready to play.
I’ll be sure to check in with you guys next week and let you know how the first couple days have gone.
